Give yourself the ultimate pamper at home

Give yourself the ultimate stay-at- home pamper day.

Pamper your body and your mind will pamper itself.

It’s starting to hit me that as soon as we are allowed back out again, I will have roots that resemble vines, eyebrows that are uncontrollable and nails that need a little TLC. To all the beauticians out there we miss you but I need to do something to keep on top of things.

When you’re staying at home, it is easy to lounge around all day. Am I right in saying that the longer we are cooped up for, the less we are going to care what our hair, skin or anything looks like.

Self-care is so important and can really change the way you look and approach things. My skin at the minute is suffering breakouts and blemishes and I think it is the stress of everything that is going on.  Even if you feel like self-isolation isn’t affecting you, the fear of the unknown most probably will be. Making sure you look after your body is a great way to look after your mind. If you feel clean and nice then you are likely to think so much more positively.

Here are some self-pampering ideas and products that you can try yourself to keep feeling happy and healthy at home.

Take a bubble bath:

I love a bath especially with a Lush bath bomb. I would recommend choosing a lavender one or a smell that relaxes you. Not only can this be good for your skin but it can also be good for your mind. The bath bomb I tend to use from Lush is ‘Sex Bomb’ because its floral smell is so relaxing and it after it hits the water, it turns into little soap petals.

Other products I love to use in the bath are the Elemis bath and shower gel and the Radox bubble bath. I would recommend the lavender and waterlily bubble bath for ultimate relaxation.

Hair Masks:

Hair mask are a personal favourite of mine because I just absolutely love how soft and brand new my hair feels afterwards.

One mask I love to use is the L’Oréal Paris hair treatment mask. This puts the shine and softness back into my hair after a lot of heat has been used. I tend to use this treatment once a month on my hair and it works wonders.

First I wash my hair with the Elvive colour protect shampoo. Once I have rinsed the shampoo off, I then apply the heat mask and leave it on for however long it says to. After I have washed off the treatment I condition my hair with Elvive purple conditioner. These products are the best combo for me. I love this shampoo and conditioner and it’s a brand I have always used but a great alternative to tackle brassiness for blondes is Lush’s purple shampoo.

Paint your nails:

I always feel clean once my nails are done. I feel even better when my fingers match my toes. I have a lamp for gel nails which I tend to use a lot. It is only a cheap one so perfect for practising with. I have collected a few colours so I can have a play around with different designs but I tend to leave the nail art to the pros and my hands are way too shaky.

If you find gel is too heavy on your nails, you can always just paint them. Maybe a bright colour to keep in tone with the sunny spring weather we are getting at the minute (or was getting).

Make a daily skin routine:

At the minute, finding a skin routine is essential for me. My skin is just awful and I don’t know why. Anyone else having the same issues? I have asked so many people what skin products best work for them and then researched them in relation to my own skin. I have skin that is quite sensitive and tends to blush quite easily, so I didn’t want anything that was going to be too harsh. Eventually I decided to order Alpha Liquid Gold and Clinique’s ‘take the day off’ cleansing balm as they ticked all the boxes for my sensitive skin. I’m only on day one of using both of the products so I can’t wait to see the results. Follow my Instagram page for updates on this.

I would 100% recommend putting the research in before buying products because everyone’s skin is different and what works for someone else may not work for you.

Tame them brows:

My eyebrows legit grow back the day after I get them waxed so if I need to keep on top of anything, this is it.  I only want to keep them neat and tidy so they don’t take over my face. I am nowhere near confident enough to try waxing them myself because that would just be a disaster but I try to keep on top of them put plucking and at the most giving them a little trim. If they were to get too out of hand I may resort to waxing the middle of my eyebrows. I have used ‘Smooth Care’ wax strips from Boots before and they are great! So quick and easy and they have aloe vera in which is perfect to calm any redness.

Grab a tan:

Life is better with a tan am I right? Clothes fit better, hair looks brighter and makeup stays on longer. While we are all stuck in there is slim chance of a sun tan. Why not try a gradual tan that will give you a long lasting summer glow, rather than trying to keep on top of your instant tan that will most likely spiral down the drain the first time you shower. Everyone I have asked said it lasts much longer and you get a much more natural result so I have started using L’Oréal’s Sublime Bronze summer glow lotion. I find that this doesn’t give you that fake tan biscuit smell but more of a citrus smell and it really moisturises your skin as well as tanning it. I will be posting updates on my Instagram page of the results from using this product. Be sure to follow!

And that’s all.

6 things to give yourself a little beauty boost not only for the body but for the mind and soul. If you look good your feel good so I would definitely do this if you are having a few down days!
