Make the most of your Easter
Tips, tracks, hacks and crafts that will help you get through Easter indoors.
I’m so ready to eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner while snacking on chocolate in between. It is the one time of year I let myself do this. I have tried to stop snacking throughout this lockdown so that when Easter comes I can enjoy all the chocolate I want. Plus, it gives me something to look forward too… yes that’s what it’s come too; I’m excited to have a piece of chocolate after depriving myself of it for weeks.
Despite what I say… Easter is not JUST about chocolate. I love making lots of crafts and gifts for people during this time. I thought I would share with you some crafts and ideas that will not only keep you busy but make your Easter the best.
Shaping your day
One thing you can do to make your Easter at home that little bit more special than a regular day is to host and afternoon tea:
Why not surprise the family and make the majority of food sweet! Some things you can bake are:
Homemade honeycomb covered in chocolate. I’ve seen so many recipes for this and I really want to try it. It takes 5 minutes to prep and 10 minutes to cook. Easy!
Scones are a classic afternoon tea dessert. You can even buy the scones and whip up some cream yourself and add some delicious jam and fruit for the ultimate taste.
Mini egg cookies. Here on this website you will find a ‘making Millie’s cookies’ post on how to make cookies exactly like Millie. All you have do is follow it step by step but crumble up some mini eggs and add them into the mixture. Remember to save some for toppings.
There are loads of recipes online to make these great bakes but I will be sharing my own version of making them in a future blog post coming soon.
Getting creative with crafts
Now, getting a chocolate egg is the main thing to receive at Easter but if someone in your family doesn’t like chocolate here are some different craft ideas you can do for them:
Why not make a wax melt bouquet. All you need is a jug vase, tissue paper, flower decorations and some Yankee candle wax melts (smells of your choice). It is the perfect gift!
Make an Easter wreath. This is a great idea to do with kids as you can make this as simple as you like. You can cut out paper eggs and make them colourful or get really creative with some 3D art. I think I’m going to try using balloons…
For the people who get too much chocolate at Easter and fancy a little change why not make them a sweet jar. A quick and easy gift. All you need is a mason jar and their favourite sweets!
Design an Easter print. This is a thoughtful idea for a gift for those who prefer to stay away from all things sweet. It captures Easter perfectly in a cute little frame.

Some tips and tricks to make the most of your chocolate eggs
If you’re lucky enough to get a lot of Easter eggs each year, then here’s a few things you can try to get the best out of them:
Make a fancy hot chocolate. I cannot wait to try this one. Basically, you take a chocolate egg and split it in half. Then put each half at either side of the mug. Once you have made your hot chocolate, you just pour it in the middle of the chocolate shells. The egg then starts to melt from the heat of the liquid. Then you simply just add some whipped cream and toppings. Sounds dreamy right?
Another thing to do is take a whole egg and cut a little hole in the top. Blend up the chocolate bars you get with the egg and add milk to make it a milkshake! Pour the milkshake into the hollow chocolate egg and stick a straw in. It is like drinking out of a coconut except it’s a chocolate egg! It can’t get much better than that.
To round of these tips and tricks there is the classic method of a chocolate meltdown. Cornflake cakes! These are timeless cakes that are easy to make especially with children.
I hope you all have a great and safe Easter. Hopefully, these little hacks will keep you busy and make your day one to remember. I’m going to end this blog post with my top 5 favourite chocolate eggs! Be sure to comment with yours in the section below.
